Whilst testing for Bug 172006 I came across the following issue, STR:
1/ Have two different accounts set up
2/ Configure "Switch to new tabs when opened" to true
3/ Select a message in the first account
4/ Right click on a folder in the second account and select "Open in New Tab"

Expected result:
1/ Folder opens in new tab
2/ Folder from new tab is selected in folder pane
3/ Tab / mail window displays folder name from new tab

Actual result:
1/ Folder opens in new tab
2/ Folder from 1st tab is selected in folder pane
3/ Tab / mail window displays folder name from 1st tab

Fixed by the patch on Bug 1726006
