User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:92.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/92.0
Steps to reproduce:
Simply have multiple email accounts in Thunderbird, each containing some unread messages in their Inbox.
Actual results:
The Windows unread badge on the Thunderbird taskbar icon displays the total number of unread messages in ALL of the email accounts Inboxes.
Expected results:
Under Account Settings, for each email account:
-
Add a checkbox labeled something like "Include this accounts number of unread Inbox messages in the taskbar badge." It should default to checked (to continue the existing behavior). When unchecked, that accounts number of unread Inbox messages is no longer added to the total count displayed in the taskbar badge.
-
Add a checkbox labeled something like "Include Inbox subfolders." It should default to unchecked (to continue the existing behavior). When checked, subfolders should be included in the count.
Rationale: Some users may have multiple email accounts, but only want certain ones (perhaps only one) to show their unread count in the Windows Thunderbird taskbar icon badge. For them, having all the email accounts included makes the unread count useless to them.
Other note: Apple products such as iPhone and iPad have this functionality, so this is not an unknown behavior in other email products.
