User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:93.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/93.0
Steps to reproduce:
Compose message, add .pdf attachment, click on attachment to preview.
Attachment does not open and error message appears. See attachment.
In preferences I have tried changing to different .pdf viewer applications; changed to always ask; changed to preview in thunderbird; same result no matter which setting is selected in preferences. Attachments with other file types open fine. .pdf files open fine in other parts of thunderbird such as inbox, sent and trash.
Actual results:
Error:
file location.pdf could not be opened, because the associated helper application does not exist. Change the association in your preferences.
Expected results:
.pdf file should open
I sent an email and the .pdf attachment comes through to recipient fine. Just can't open to preview and make sure that correct file is attached.

*** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 1734428 ***
Magnus,
This is not a duplicate of bug 1734428*** Report 1734428 states an issue of .pdf attachments OPENING IN FIREFOX from the compose window. While not optimal that would be a huge improvement over the problem reported in this bug report. The issue here is that the .pdf WILL NOT OPEN AT ALL from the compose window. It is not possible to preview a .pdf attachment prior to sending to assure that the correct file is attached.
This in NOT a duplicate and it is NOT resolved.
Thank you.
I searched the TB Chat and posted, MANY are having this issue but since I reported they are NOT reporting to avoid duplicate reports.

That report summary is slightly incorrect. Still, it's the same issue, and it's resolved on daily. That fix which will the internal viewer work will be uplifted to Thunderbird 91 soon. For opening in adobe, there is still bug 1698140.
