User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_15_7) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/96.0.4664.110 Safari/537.36
Steps to reproduce:
Opening menu "Window / Address Book" and selecting "Mac OS X Address Book".
Actual results:
The right pane is empty, although Contacts.app contains multiple cards with email addresses.
Expected results:
The right pane should be propagated with data from Contacts.app.
This happens on a new Macbook Pro M1 / fresh OS 12.1 install / migrated data from MacOS 10.14. I searched in the console log and found the following error:
Process: tccd. Refusing authorization request for service kTCCServiceAddressBook and subject Sub:{org.mozilla.thunderbird}Resp:{<TCCDProcess: identifier=org.mozilla.thunderbird, pid=14371, auid=502, euid=502, binary_path=/Applications/Thunderbird.app/Contents/MacOS/thunderbird>} without NSContactsUsageDescription key
To my little knowledge of the Thunderbird codebase, I think the message is relevant. Also, in the Privacy / Contacts pane of System Preferences, there is no sign of Thunderbird requesting access (see attachment).
