When there are 3 tabs open, and the first tab is selected, the two others tabs
appears without a space between them.
I'm using Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.2b) Gecko/20021019
Phoenix/0.3.

I can confirm this bug in Windows XP. However, I don't see it with just 3 tabs,
but with 7 tabs, every other tab has a smaller space between the next tab.

Sorry about that. I admit I did click twice, but not 5 times! I clicked the
second time after the first one timed out.

Good eyes. Confirmed on Windows XP with 6 and 7 tabs open. The number of tabs
affects where the space differences appear, with 6 middle split was off. Subtle
bug.

Reproducible here with 5,6, or 7 tabs only. Any more or less are fine. It goes
away as soon as you focus on a tab. Should the severity be adjusted to minor?

Confirming bug. Lowering severity to minor and changing the OS to ALL since this
occurs not only on Linux but on different Windows versions as well.
Severity: normal → minor
Status: UNCONFIRMED → NEW
Ever confirmed: true
OS: Linux → All

Good question, Blake. I don't see this anymore on W2K. Nelson, David?

I still somewhat see it. The space between the tabs differ, seems like it's not
specified in pixels but in percentage or something. Right now I have 6 tabs
opened and there is a wider gap between tab 3 and 4 than between the other tabs.
Using 1280x960 res on winxp luna.

The spaces now aren't disappearing, but sometimes it isn't OK.

Yes, this appears sometimes using the default theme. Maybe a rounding error?

Is this the same as bug 265177? If so, possibly a duplicate of bug 176237 as well.

A bug fix would be nice to have, but this does not block the 1.1 release.

I'd be very surprised if fixing bug 63336 didn't solve this problem. The target
milestone is set to "future" for that bug though, so I doubt we'll see a fix any
time soon.

This seems to have regressed again and the test case https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/attachment.cgi?id=177348 here still works. Should we reopen this bug or create a new one.

I did look at the screen shot. That bug could have affected tabs on the tab bar too. Have you tested a build with that patch backed out?
Comment 39•19 years ago

Gavin, seems one of my extensions actually removes one pixel between each tab which made some of the tabs have no space between them at all while others had one pixel. But still there is an extra pixel between some tabs with out my extension...some have one pixel and others have two pixel spacing.

Yep, using an almost latest trunk cairo build.

Sorry one more comment for now.
Seems I was premature in my conclusion that my extension took out one pixel between tabs. At 1600*1200 resolution, default font size, and 7 tabs open the spacing is the same as in https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/attachment.cgi?id=222354 no spacing between some and others one pixel, also some tabs overlap others if the selected tab is beside one of the tabs with no spacing. I can also reproduce at 1024*768 resolution with 7 tabs open but less tabs have the spacing issue.
