User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Fedora; Linux x86_64; rv:98.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/98.0
Steps to reproduce:
The current Thunderbird on Fedora 35 displays strange colors on the subject line of certain messages, usually just from the mailing list of newegg.ca.
I don't know whether this is a mailing list problem or a Thunderbird problem.
See the attached screenshot.
This is Thunderbird 91.7.0

Is that an oversized emoji?
Please open the RAW-view of that message (Menu -> View -> Message Source [Ctrl]+U) and copy and past the RAW subject line.
Then it could be Bug 1390015. However, it should have been fixed already. But it could also be a regression.

Yes, there's an emoji where the graphic glitch is: u+1F4B0 - MONEY BAG 💰
https://www.fileformat.info/info/unicode/char/1f4b0/browsertest.htm
followed by u+2013 EN-DASH –
But it's not simply enlarged.
(JFTR: I don't see the bug here on Windows)

I gather it's a mailing list problem ?? It's only a minor annoyance.

That would be unusual.
Please download the test mail (attachment 9269104 [details]) and drop it into your mail folder. It's just a simple mail with your subject.
Does the error show up there as well?

Doesn't really work as Thunderbird is completely configured to do IMAP.

Of course it can be done. Have you tried it?
Your Fedora has a GUI, doesn't it?

Yes sorry. My brain shut off for a moment.
Now it appears that something strange is going on. Depending on my mood I switch between the Mate desktop and a straight window manager IceWm. I am also back and forth between Debian and Fedora. Now it doesn't matter whether I'm running Debian or Fedora, but
under the Mate desktop, the display is fine as you can see in the attached screenshot
Under IceWm the emoji appears strange. Again look at the attached screenshot.
How do you upload images into a reply. I see no option ?

Only with your original email or also with attachment 9269104 [details]?

When you unfold the "Attachments" section, a [Add New File] button should be there.

Both emails appear properly in Mate.
Both show the glitch in IceWm.
I'll take it up with IceWm's authors on Github.
Thanks

Haven't brought it up with them because the mail with the offending subject line got accidentally deleted! And the problem is it hasn't happened again yet. If and when it does I'll file a bug with them.
