Do you also see the problem when using version 102?

Martin, what server backends do you have configured? IMAP? CalDAV/CardDAV? Or some other calendar/contacts provider?
I am seeing the same thing here (TB 102 on Ubuntu MATE, see #1816237). Freezes are random, but I can provoke them by initiating a CalDAV transaction, such as synchronizing or marking a task complete. They can happen at any point in the UI, not just when composing messages. When I continue typing, the typed text eventually appears when the screen unfreezes.
Does that match what you are seeing? If you are using CalDAV, can you reliably reproduce the freeze behavior as I described it?

Hi,
I found that issue here and it fits exactly to the behaviour I have.
Setup:
Win 11: 22H2 (Build 22621.1555)
TB 102.10.0 (64 Bit)
AMD Ryzen 7
24 GB RAM
I am using CalDAV Calender of gmx.de which worked well for years and works well e.g. on iPhone etc. I have no extra caldav providers installed.
I also deinstalled TB, removed all the configs including registry entries and re-installed. That led to the same behaviour :(
Is there any idea what causes TB to freeze? and how to fix it?

Additional Info: I tried to install TBSync and the CalDav / Carddav Provider. after setting up and first sync, the behaviour seems the same (also freezes for half a minute) ...

Please post a performance profile url. see https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profiling-thunderbird-performance

Actions carried out were:
- Change to Calendar tab
- Start recording
- Flip two months back, wait for the screen to react, then two more months
- Capture recording and upload
Going one month back would immediately freeze up the UI for a few seconds; this should be visible in the performance profile.
