Steps to reproduce:
I am on Windows.
I opened an email that I had received. I chose delete from the list of actions at the top right of the menu.
Actual results:
The email disappeared from my inbox but the viewing window was not closed.
Expected results:
The viewing window should be closed (no?).

I find, now, that the problem is intermittent. I am afraid that I do not know what causes it to manifest itself.

You are using "Open message in new Window"?
Looks like deleting msg will show the next msg in folder, and if there's no other msg, close the window. Probably all as designed.

I have these settings:
'Open message in': 'A new message window'
'Close message window/tab on move or delete': yes
And Thunderbird does not open the next message (if there is one) when I delete a message, and that is how I want things, but I do not know where one configures that behaviour.
