User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.15; rv:104.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/104.0
Steps to reproduce:
I added a table by cut&paste unintentionally (i wanted an unformatted version but the html create a table)
Actual results:
I tried to delete it with delete or right mouse click and it didn't work. The whole table behaved strangely and i didn't know what to do
I searched and found the explanation https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1197130
which forced me to a very awkward deletion procedure via the table menu
Expected results:
The table should not have been added like this in the first place. The table editor is awkward and not really helpful so it would be better to use markup and view instead and be able to toggle between the two. This way the markup would be deleteable.
If you must keep the table editor it badly needs a selection for the whole table that reacts on a delete key. This current (IMHO most ugly) behavior has been there for too long and me an my wife hate it.

Thanks Mr. Wolfgang, deleting a table is quite cumbersome indeed, and needs improvement.
Right-click might allow for an easy fix, as this isn't currently a priority for us wrt limited resources.

Really a fundamental flaw

Is it straightfoward to hook up some table related context items?

It would be good to have a context menu item for table manipulation. But don't ask me how to do.
... it would be better to use markup and view instead and be able to toggle between the two.
There is an add-on that does just that.

"This add-on has been removed by its author. " ... so it's more like "there used to be an add-on"
