The About Nightly
dialog is skinnier than it used to be (after being wider-than-it-used-to-be for a few days in bug 1792337).
From slack with emilio:
- It used to be sized based on the length of some string.
- We recently added a wider string (which happened to be hidden by default), and this made it awkwardly extra wide, which was bug 1792337.
- Emilio addressed that by making the dialog respect a size (
620px
) that happened to be specified in our code already but was previously being ignored. - So now we've got that hardcoded size, rather than the somewhat-larger string-length-based size that we've had for a long time.
This feels a bit like a jarring change, and the dialog's text feels a bit more cramped & more linewrapped than it used to be, to me at least. I wonder if we should pick a new size that's closer to what we used to have?

Here's a screenshot of current Nightly behavior (from a quite-recent autoland build, launched via mozregression mozregression --launch c4d1d04d32cc --repo autoland
)

...vs. here's a screenshot from Nightly 2022-09-01 (which is the sizing/behavior we've had for quite a while, I think).

The inspector reports that Release Firefox currently has the About dialog sized at 670px
, 50px
bigger than the 620px
that is now enforced. Do we want to go back to that?
