User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:107.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/107.0
Steps to reproduce:
If you open a message in a new window, then replies can fail.
eg - an Inbox with more than one message.
Select one message and right-click "Open in New Window". New Window opens.
In the main UI window (not the newly opened one) select a different message, Message B.
Thunderbird 102.5.0 (32 Bit) on Windows 10
In the main UI Window, click reply. A new reply window opens, but the details are message A's, not message B's.
Close the reply window.
Close the Window with Message A
In the main UI window, try Reply again.
No reply window opens.
Actual results:
When the "New Window" is opened, the reply generates a reply to the wrong message
When the "New Window" is closed, no reply window is generated.
Expected results:
When reply used, expect it to reply to message B.

Hey Jonathan, thanks, but this works for me on TB 102.5.0 (64-bit) on Win10, both for IMAP (gmail) and POP3 (gmx).
Here's what I've tried (next time, kindly number your steps and use -
for results which will be converted to bullets):
STR
- Right-click message A from inbox > Open in a new window
- Back to 3-pane, select another message B from same inbox > click Reply (msg header button)
Actual result
- Reporter: Replying to message B wrongly quotes message A which was opened in a window (and still open).
- thomas8: Replying to message B correctly quotes message B (which is expected result).
Expected result
- Replying to message B should quote message B.
Jonathan,
- Does this fail for you on every message?
- Does this still fail with
≡ > Help > Troubleshoot Mode…
? - POP or IMAP?
- Any other potentially relevant settings?

Thank you for your reply.
Yes, it was failing consistently, I am using IMAP.
Headline: it does not fail with troubleshoot mode
Disable troubleshoot mode, and correct behaviour returns.
I examined my add-ons and disabled "Identity Chooser" add in. The problem no longer occurs with that disabled.
Think I need to approach the author of the add-on :-)
Thank you for you insight.
