Steps to reproduce:

1. Type text in "Filter these messages" that will cause failure in current folder
2. Before search is completed, change to different window or unfocus Thunderbird (for example "About Thunderbird" also works)

Actual results:

Search hint about "Continue this search across all folders" persists and overlays other windows

Expected results:

Search hint should not cover other windows.

That's right medan, confirming as described for 102.5.1 (64-bit), Win10.
However, you need to be quite quick to actually get into this state, which is a bit of an edge case. Refocusing the Thunderbird window with the quick search input will allow the sticky notification to go away again.

Yeah Thomas I get that this is something quite minor and low on priority.

However you don't need to be that quick to reproduce it - all I needed to observe this is to filter messages by Body and have few thousand mails to search - it takes few seconds to finish.

I encountered this in 115. I had no idea why I was seeing this message. It covered Firefox windows and I had to identify which installation of Thunderbird was causing the tooltip to show (115.1.0 / ESR release). (I have 102 ESR, beta, and daily also installed.)

This may require some figuring out on how to duplicate this easily to test and make fixes. But this is a strange bug. Thunderbird should not impact things outside of Thunderbird.

I noticed this on macOS.

This can appear when Thunderbird opens a calendar reminder. I did a search an hour ago and then was working on other things. The text was still in the search box. And then two tooltips appeared on top of an external application for two Thunderbird applications I was not actively using (including 118.0a1). They appeared when the calendar reminder showed up.
