User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.2b) Gecko/20021029 Phoenix/0.4 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.2b) Gecko/20021029 Phoenix/0.4 Right-click phoenix.exe, click the Version tab, File Version and Product Version report as "1.2.0.0" and "1.2b", respectively. This looks like a carry-over from Mozilla. Please fill in these values with the "real" version of Phoenix (0.4, in this case), so it's easy for a use to check which version is installed (without running the app). Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: See details. Actual Results: "1.2", etc. Expected Results: Phoeniz should show "0.4"

What the #$^%? I did NOT submit 10 or so bugs for this same trivial bug. I pressed Submit once, got a "Document Contains No Data" error after a timeout (about 3 minutes), and then I did press Submit ONE more time. I have no idea why my browser (Phoenix 0.4) or Bugzilla submitted this all these times! Sorry about the bother! - Jim

Maybe this relates: I've noticed that Mozilla's "Help|About Mozilla" screen continued to report an older version, even when I installed a build to a new directory. It also reported the "Multizilla" plugin version. (aha!) I fixed it on my machine by closing the browser and deleting this line from prefs.js: user_pref("general.useragent.misc", "rv:1.2a; MultiZilla v1.1.22"); About Mozilla now reports: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.3) Gecko/20030312
CC'ing bryner.
Why bother to fix this? Mozilla Firebird will become Mozilla Browser soon anyway, and the version number should then correspond to the current Mozilla release.
When I filed this, Phoenix was a separate project. I've now read that Phoenix/Firebird will become the main Mozilla.org browser. At some point, though, someone needs to start changing the string (buried somewhere deep inside the "old" XPFE codebase, I assume) for the Phoexix/Firebird releases. If Mozilla 1.5 really will be Phoenix/Firebird and the string will automatically be updated for that next release, then someone "official" can feel free to close this bug. Just trying to help!

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.6) Gecko/20040206 Firefox/0.8 File version is now listed as 0.8.0.0 and Product Version as "Personal". Looks FIXED to me.
Also WFM, Gecko/20040214 Firebird/0.8.0+
I filed this bug, and I agree that it seems to be fixed now. :-) Doesn't look like I can close it, though. Someone "official" can feel free to close it! Thanks, Jim
Marking as WFM, based on comments.

I have regression on this using 0.9 The build id and User-Agent I have is Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8a) Gecko/20040418 Firefox/0.8.0+ Now the + may mean 9 I suppose but its hardly useful. The string showing in the About box is Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8a) Gecko/20040418 Firefox/0.8 All with a version of 0.9. Not only is this untidy it could lead to errors if anyone is tracking functionality using the User-Id.
