Just carrying over an idea from Anje's Bug 1743776 Comment 1:

Additional function suggestion [for messages in trash folder]:
create a 'restore' drop down option OR header button, so emails can be moved back to whichever folder they were previously located.

STR

  • Delete messages from Inbox
  • Realize you deleted too many, accidental deletion, cat on keyboard (don't try that in Thunderbird!), etc.
  • Alternatively, check your trash for false negatives before emptying it
  • Want to restore some deleted messages back to where they came from

Actual result

  • Could use Move to > Inbox > Inbox which needs careful thought and navigation
  • Undo will only work if you haven't done anything else in between
  • No easy way of just restoring a deleted message to its source folder

Expected result

  • Easy way of just restoring a deleted message to its source folder
