User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:109.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/110.0

Steps to reproduce:

Try bookmarking any page, and the bookmark editing / saving popover dialog will show a big thumbnail of the page that serves no purpose other than to waste space and add visual clutter (see attached screenshot to see what I'm referring to).

Actual results:

The bookmark creation popover dialog shows a big thumbnail of the page I'm already in front of. It's 100% redundant. Why would I need to see a thumbnail? The page is right there, in full size, behind/below that popover!

The thumbnail just eats vertical space (so it exacerbates problems like in bug #1634683 / bug #1464580) and duplicates visual information.

Expected results:

Don't show a thumbnail in that popover. It's not relevant in that particular place. Just show the relevant bookmark editing fields.

Sure, bug #1464580 might theoretically help make the layout of that popover dialog better, but it will be even better if there is no redundant thumbnail on top of it.

I agree that the thumbnail as it is today is not useful, I'd rather prefer to show a rich icon if the site makes one available.
the original idea was actually to use the site provided preview image (through opengraph), as per bug 1505184, so the current thumbnail is a placeholder, that has remained there for quite a long time.

I thinkg bug 1464580 will still be useful to fix.

I could see that, but I'm not really convinced that even the opengraph image has a place in this dialog; it just eats space for a page that I'm already right in front of, I don't need a visual remember whatsoever. This is not going to make me "emotionally connect" with the page. Opengraph visuals or thumbnails are only useful for discovery or recalling, not while you're already in front of the content already.

The only place where I can see this making sense is in wherever you'd be accessing the bookmarks, like "maybe" the standalone bookmarks manager dialog if it had an alternate "tiles" view instead of only a list view (and I trust you folks are not going to remove the listview, I hope...), but this shouldn't be present in the new bookmark creation/edition popover dialog when it's triggered from the addressbar.

Could this be reconsidered?

Feel free to add a comment to bug 1505184 explaining in your opinion there should no image at all. I think it's reasonable.
Anyway the efforts here are blocked on UX and there's no ongoing design effort around bookmarks, so we're blocked waiting.
