☝🏻 The above patches were fixes and refactors I found along the way to implementing this, but do not implement this bug (yet). I have some WIP work I will be submitting against this bug, but it likely will not receive significant attention until we have figured out bug 1831263 and bug 1836479.

Going to take this off my plate for now. I don't see this bug getting attended to any time soon, with the priorities the team currently has.
