Windows 10
New installation of 114.0b6
New beta profile
created one imap gmail account
- Select 'Inbox' folder
- Column headers needed to be rearranged.
-
- Remove 'Correspondents'
-
- Add 'From'
-
- Move 'Sort by read' to left of From.
-
- Remove the incorrectly named 'Spam' - it should be Junk - that's a different bug.
Now have
Thread, Starred , Attachments, Read Status, From, Subject, Date
- click on 'Select columns to display' icon
- select 'Apply current view to'
- select 'folder and it's children'
- choose the account name
- click on account name on next drop down
- Pop up to apply changes to the current folders view to account name and its chidren
- Select 'OK'
Expected
all my folders and subfolders to have the same column header set up.
Actual Result
Only Inbox has the column headers I manually selected.
All other folders and subfolders remain unchanged.
This is not working.

They are in the same but I reported this one as separate because it is in beta 114.0b6 - a separate installation using a separate new beta profile with no data transference from any other profile.
Just to confirm - 'View' > 'Sort by' has the following selected: Date, Descending and Unthreaded.
At this point I have not altered the default settings which set up threaded by default.

I took a look at this. Currently, this functionality is separated into two menu items: "Apply columns to…" and "Apply current view to…". It looks like 102 also treated these as separate. I agree that this is confusing, but it doesn't seem to be a regression.
Alessandro, what would you like to do here?

For now we're gonna keep this as it is to respect 102, but later we will need to rethink this whole approach and define some more sensible rules.
So, Anje, "Apply current view to..." applies the sorting index and direction to other folders, but not the columns.
"Apply columns to..." only applies the visible columns to other folders, but not the sorting index and direction.
We agree that this is confusing, but this behavior as been around for many years and for now we're gonna keep it as it is. We will make it less confusing and more intuitive after 115.
Does using "Apply columns to..." fix your problem?

Thanks for clarification. You are correct.
"Apply columns to..." does apply columns to all folders etc. So consider closed.
I agree 'Apply current view to..' is confusing as I assumed that option copied everything - the view = what I see - columns and all sort by selecttions; the lot.
Perhaps just changing 'view' to 'sort by' would help eg: 'Apply current Sort By to' may improve meaning and it's a quick alteration.
