Major change 1
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/import-data-another-browser
In 116, we will support extensions import from Chrome in 116 and need to mention the support and how import works (since Chrome and Firefox extensions are not directly compatible).
In the product flow, we need to link to a section of the article explaining how we match the extensions when importing them and add the link to the build this week.
Can we please use this slug once we make the update?
https://support.mozilla.org/1/firefox/%VERSION%/%OS%/%LOCALE%/import-data-another-browser#w_import-extensions-from-chrome
During the import, we match the most popular Chromium extensions to their Firefox versions:
- we only import equivalent Firefox extensions by the same developer, never anything else (e.g., an extension offering similar functionality)
- ideally, equivalents are participating in the AMO Spotlight or Recommended Extension program,
- the Firefox extension version has been updated in the last six months,
- it is not disabled by their developer in AMO,
- it is not in a non-approved state in AMO.
Major change 2
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/importing-safari-data-firefox
- We no longer need full access to import data from Safari (although users can still do it if they are willing to go this path).
I think it would be more valuable to describe the new Safari import flow instead. Especially, since it now prompts users to bring bookmarks AND passwords from Safari.
