Steps to reproduce:

Update the botan version to 2.19.0 to add support for loongarch64. As in the
botan's release note: https://botan.randombit.net/news.html. It add support for loongarch in 2.19.0

Actual results:

Current version thunderbird do not support loongarch64 because of the botan version and others.

Expected results:

It should be able to support the loongarch64 better

This is not a mail security bug.

As for loongarch support in Thunderbird, it won't happen until it's supported in Firefox, efforts are best directed there for now. See bug 1746335.

Botan may get updated for other reasons, but otherwise this bug remains a P5.

The latest RNP supports Botan3.

Summary: [loongarch] Update to Botan 2.19.0 → [loongarch] Update to Botan 2.19.0 or later

There is no released version of RNP that supports Botan 3. Version 0.17.0 (latest as of writing this) only supports Botan 2.

(In reply to Takanori MATSUURA from comment #2)

Available Botan versions: 2.19.3 and 3.2.0
The latest RNP supports Botan3.

Version 0.17.1 now supports Botan 3.
General

  • Added support for Botan 3.
  • Updated support for OpenSSL 3.
  • Added support for mimemode in literal data packet.
  • Relaxed Base64 decoding to allow spaces after the checksum.

Comment 4 is correct, and we are using RNP 0.17.1 already, since 115.13.0, the work was done in bug 1885353.

Bug 1848104 is a newer tracking bug for more recent Botan.
