User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:109.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/116.0
Steps to reproduce:
- Open two or more tabs with folder list sidebars
- Click Get New Messages or just wait for Thunderbird to notice that new messages have arrived.
- Switch to a tab that wasn't focused when the new messages arrived
Actual results:
The folders aren't marked in blue like they were on the other tab
Expected results:
All tabs should share the same "freshly arrived messages" state like they did in Thunderbird 102.

Geoff, does this match to some of the shenanigans you referred to at AH ?

If you looked at the list in tab 1, then they are no longer NEW once you get to the other tab though.

Yeah, I think that would be expected for the folder that was being viewed in the other tab.
But that should not be true for other folders (all folders). Which is to say, in that other tab, other folders which have new mail (and are seen in tab 1 with blue) and should be blue are not blue. In fact, none of the folders in the other tab are blue. (tested with daily)

That's strange. I just tested this with Daily on Linux, there is no difference in the (blue) new mail indication between the tabs.

Not reproducible for me with Thunderbird 115.6.1 (64-bit) on openSUSE Tumbleweed.

Stephan, are you still able to reproduce this?

Not only am I still experiencing it, it seems to be some kind of more general desynchronization. Take a look at the unread count on Dev Blogs in these two screenshots, taken from sibling tabs within seconds of each other and with no alteration to the underlying state.

(me, the broken record)
Stephan, Is this reproducing in 140?

If this can be reproduced, do the two tabs have the same folder view? If the view is different this could be the same as bug 1938799.
(I tried to reproduce this issue with 140.5.0esr and saw the same results in both tabs, but they had the same folder view.)

Judging from comment 7 this should be the same issue.
