Steps to reproduce:

  1. Add RSS feeds.
  2. View both All Folders and Unread Folders.
  3. Fetch new messages.

Expected:
The blue new unread messages indicator should be consistent in both Folder Modes.

Actual:
Sometimes the indicator only appears in one of the Folder Modes.

Usually my Unread mode is visible and I need to scroll to reach the All view. Today I fetched and there was no blue in Unread and I scrolled down to see all of the folders blue in All. There have been many times when some of the folders were blue in Unread and others weren't blue but should be. It might have been that the other folders were blue in All but I didn't scroll down to check until today. I also don't know whether this problem applies to folders other than RSS feeds.

128.6.0esr (64-bit) on Ubuntu Ubuntu 24.04.1 LTS.

The bug affects mail accounts, not just RSS feeds. I just fetched e-mail for all accounts. A POP Mail account with no previous unread messages now appears in Unread Folders with the account name in blue and the Inbox folder incorrectly not in blue. Under All Folders both the account and inbox are blue.

Would you be able to upload a screenshot?

I'm attaching partial screen shots from my last fetch-all. Before this fetch all entries in my RSS feeds had been read. (The bug doesn't affect just RSS, but that's what showed up in this fetch.)

The first is the unread view. Mozilla shows up even though there's no unread because there's no button to refresh the unread folder list (that has been reported in another bug report). Rights shows up as black even though the entries are new.

The second is the all folders view. Both of the folders with new messages are blue.

Thanks, that's helpful. I'm seeing similar. I toggled between "View->Folders->All Folders" and "View->Folders->Unread Folders" the unread count indicators mostly changed to gray. Also I'm noticing that some of the unread folder names are blue and some are white.

Hello!

I have checked on TB 128.6.0esr(20250107005646), 128.7.0esr( 20250204193300) and TB Daily 137.0a1( 20250217100545), and i did not encounter the exact issue mentioned on the defect above on the inconsistency between Unread and All folders mode, as the blue indicator was visible on both Unread Folders and All folders every time I fetched for new messages, however i did encounter other scenarios where the blue indicator is inconsistent and here is what i found:

1. I opened TB, Unread folder and All folders modes are visible, the blue indicator is visible on both Unread Folders and All folders mode for folders that have new mails, if I toggle between "View->Folders->All Folders" and "View->Folders->Unread Folders" the unread count indicator from All folder mode changes to gray without me opening any folder or email.

2. I opened TB and the blue indicator showing there ar new mails is visible on both Unread folders and All folders mode, if I toggle with Hide Local Folder the blue indicator changes to gray for both Unread folder and ALL folders modes even if no folder was opened.

3. I opened TB, Unread folder and All folders modes are visible, the blue indicator is visible on both Unread Folders and All folders mode for folders that have new mails, if I toggle “View ->Folders->Compact View the blue indicator from Unread Folder mode changes to gray.

4. I opened TB, Unread folder and All folders modes are visible, the blue indicator is visible on both Unread Folders and All folders mode for folders that have new mails, if by mistake I click on “X” and open TB again the blue indicator changes to gray.

I just tried with 128.7.0esr (20250211185919, not 20250204193300 as in comment 7) and I am able to reproduce my original report.

With six RSS folders I fetched messages from all. The All Folders view now has six folders with blue indicators and the Unread Folders view has four folders blue and two gray.

If the reports in comment 7 are consider a bug I wouldn't put them I would put them in a different bug report as they don't represent cases where one folder is simultaneously display in two different ways.

Richard, is this something you could take a look at?

This doesn't look like a CSS issue but more as a issue in the folder pane code to update both views.
Better this does someone handle witch knows the folder pane code.

Folder rows only indicated new messages by turning blue when new messages were
received or when the folder was collapsed or expanded. Newly created rows for
folders containing new messages did not. For this reason, folders that had been
read and were added to the unread view after receiving new messages missed the
indication. The same occurred for all folders when a new three-pane tab was
opened, or folder modes were switched off and on.
