Steps to reproduce:

Launch Firefox with the device folded, bring up the tab management user interface and notice how the available tabs are represented as square tiles.

Unfold the device and observe how the tab management user interface reacts/scales

Actual results:

Tabs that were once square tiles are now stretched rectangles, wasting the increase in screen space. If you keep the device unfolded with the stretched rectangular tab tile, close Firefox via the recent application, open Firefox again, the tab tiles are drawn correctly as squares.

Expected results:

When unfolded, the tile representing the tab should remain the same size as it is when the device is folded.

Hey :MarkHands840, thanks for filing this bug! Could you provide the version of Firefox you are using and whether this is Nightly, Beta, or Release?

What does the Tabs Tray look like for you when you first open it when your device is unfolded?

No worries! I'm on the release version:

With the device unfolded and Firefox opened fresh (i.e. cleared from the recent apps list), it looks like I would expect i.e. square tiles. I'll upload a screenshot.

Gotcha ok, thanks for posting this! If you have the time, could you install Nightly and see if it's reproducible on there, too? We've been doing a rewrite of the Tabs Tray to a new UI framework on Nightly, and I'm curious if this bug is also present there. I have a hypothesis what the root cause could be, regardless.

I've just installed the Nightly (from the Google Play Store Build #2015971363) and can confirm the tabs tray behaves as expected, i.e. it appears the tab tile remains square when moving from folded -> unfolded. Very happy about this, I love Firefox for Android! Hoping the tabs tray rewrite finds it's way to the release version sooner, rather than later.

That's great! I can't give a firm timeline on when the Tabs Tray rewrite will make its way to Release, but it'll be in Beta in the next month or so!
