Click it.

Actual results:

It is marked as unread untill connection times out.

Please provide more details here:

1. Connection times out to what? Thunderbird would never connect to Facebook just because you read a mail from them.
2. If you can, post a link to a video.
3. Similarly, if possible, use the web developer console to look at the network traffic and show what connection you think is causing the problem.
4. Have you tested this in troubleshooting mode and with no add-ons enabled?

Images are blocked by default. If you have them enabled and that's the connection that was timing out that's a key piece of information, lol.

Anyway this is almost certainly bug 1855758.
