User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win95; en-US; rv:1.3a) Gecko/20021216 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win95; en-US; rv:1.3a) Gecko/20021216 In previous builds (for example 1.2.1) clicking right of the URL selected the URL, just as clicking on the URL does. In version 1.3a and recent daily builds this behavious has changed. ClickSelectsAll is enabled. Since I usually click on the address bar to enter a new URL, I prefer the URL to be selected after clicking anywhere in the address bar. On the other hand, this might be an intentional change in Mozilla's behaviour which I am unaware of. This bug appears to be different from bug 169996, which describes a similar problem on Macintosh computers that happens when clicking anywhere in the address bar, and happened in earlier builds. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. click on the address bar at the right side of the present URL 2. 3. Actual Results: The cursor is placed at the right end of the URL, and typing appends text to the URL. Expected Results: The URL is selected, and typing will overwrite it.
Try double left click on URL bar. It works for me like this ;-)
Double clicking in the same space does indeed select the URL. However, in previous Mozilla builds, as well as in any other browser I know (for example Internet Explorer, Phoenix, Opera), clicking anywhere in the address bar selects the entire URL. Unless this is an intentional change in UI behaviour, I think it should be regarded a bug.
This behaviour is caused by a patch for bug #116441, and is currently being changed to your expected behaviour, although platform-dependant. I don't know how you want to label this bug since it isn't technically a duplicate, but it will be fixed in a matter of days.
If the fix for Bug #116441 fixes this, Windows, problem, then this is a dup, and 116441 should have OS changed to ALL.
