User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/117.0.0.0 Safari/537.36
Steps to reproduce:
Receive new message.
Click on message in upper/message list window of the inbox.
Actual results:
Message does not appear in the lower/message window. Instead, there's a summary - as I had clicked on a condensed/unexpanded thread and the window were showing all messages in the thread. In fact, the window says something about the messages (plural) even though there's only one. This seems to happen with replies (messages that are part of an ongoing exchange), even when only the latest reply is shown in the inbox.
Shifting focus to another message and back does not change anything.
Opening the message in its own window shows the whole message.
Restarting Thunderbird will often fix this.
Not sure if this applies only to messages where an earlier reply was moved to another folder during the same Thunderbird session (before the latest reply was received).
Expected results:
Should have seen the complete message in the lower window.

I am still seeing it. Just this morning, in fact. I've attached a (much redacted) screenshot of the message, just below the ones from Bugzilla. I've redacted much of the text, but you can hopefully see that the highlighted (blue) message is not show in full in the reading pane; only the collapsed summary is shown. Unfortunately, I had to remove most of the info for privacy, but the form of the problem is there. The message is part of a series, but is the only part of that series in the inbox, so should be shown in full.

Did you experience this only in unified folders? See also bug 1876854.

Interesting, I had not found that other bug. Yes, at first glance it appears to only happen when looking at the 'roll-up' inbox under unified folders. That is, when I look at the individual inbox under the unified inbox, the message appears normal, as it does when moved to another folder. Only when looking at the unified inbox is it messed up. [That's based on a quick check only.]
Note that, despite the title of the other bug, this happens to me even when a message has not been deleted and restored. It may happen only to messages that are part of a conversation, when received after the previous parts of the conversation have been moved out of the inbox. I haven't tracked that carefully.

@Hartmut
1838583 sounds very much like what I'm seeing, so this bug can be rolled into that one.
