User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:120.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/120.0

Steps to reproduce:

This is hard to explain but

  1. when I receive a message from a person that has sent me a message previously the new message gets grouped with the previous messages from that sender. T

  2. then if I want to reply the normal reply button is not there so have to hit reply from top of program and it opens a reply for each message previously received. Brendan, this is the issue we tested a few days ago, where our behavior in version 115 does not match version 102.
Maybe there are multiple bugs here?

I think so.

The reply issue is due to how we enable the reply command. I've opened bug 1866819 to track it, which includes a lengthy explanation of why this happens (tl;dr we used to specifically disable the reply command on collapsed threads, but we don't do it anymore).

The grouping issue sounds like a different one. I'm not sure I fully understand what the user is observing, so I can be wrong, but it kinda sounds to me like something have triggered their UI from sorting emails in threads? (I think the default in 102 is to not use threads, and that it was flipped in 115, but I'm a) not sure about this and b) not clear on how this would have caused an existing profile to change)

Hello, I am checking to see if there has been any progress on these issues yet? My email accounts are a mess right now.

My version of Thunderbird is 115.4.1 and I see that version 115.6.0 has been released, would the update fix this issue? I am not familiar with what happens when a bug is reported but there have not been any updates on this for a month?

Your issue #2 will be fixed in 115.6.1 via bug 1866819.

You can expect that there is no progress, unless it was fixed via another bug report such as bug 1866819. There are no other reports of this that I know of of, and a backlog of many other bug reports to be investigated, so it is not a surprise there is no activity here. You can check the release notes between 115.4.1 and 115.6.0 https://www.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/releases/
