Details

User-Agent:
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:115.0) Gecko/20100101 Thunderbird/115.5.1
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:122.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/122.0 Thunderbird/122.0a1

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Open Inbox and switch its message display option "Sort by" to "Unthreaded".
  2. Go to "Settings > General > Disk Space" and set "Compact all folders when it will save over [20] MB in total".
  3. Delete mass volume emails from the Inbox to trigger compacting.
  4. When "Compact folders" dialog appears, select "Compact now".
  5. Check message display options.

Actual results:

"Sort by" option will change from "Unthreaded" to "Threaded".
I changed the value of mailnews.default_view_flags from 1 to 0 in Config Editor. Then "Sort by" option remained "Unthreaded" even after auto-compacting.
So it seems that auto-compacting is reset this option.
However, if "Compact" is executed manually, "Sort by" option is not reset.

Expected results:

"Sort by" option should not change when auto-compacting is triggered.
If this is not possible, there should be a notice alerting the user that "Sort by" will be reset.

Additional Information:

The default value of mailnews.default_view_flags was changed in Bug 1764842.
So I think that on Thunderbird 102 and before, auto-compacting resets "Threaded" to "Unthreaded".

So I think that on Thunderbird 102 and before, auto-compacting resets "Threaded" to "Unthreaded".

So I think that on Thunderbird 91 and earlier, auto-compacting resets "Threaded" to "Unthreaded".
