User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:121.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/121.0
Steps to reproduce:
Start with a mailbox containing unread messages with long subjects that overflow the subject column, and are thus truncated.
Hover over one of the truncated subjects
Actual results:
Tooltip containing the complete message subject is not displayed.
Click on the subject to select the message, then move the mouse away and back over the truncated subject.
The tooltip is displayed
Expected results:
The tooltip should have displayed initially, when the mouse cursor hovered over the unread truncated message.

Seems to work for me, at least on daily.

I can confirm the bug on Thunderbird 115.6.1 on Linux (KDE neon based on Ubuntu 22.04). Tooltips are only displayed on the actively selected message, which kind of defeats the point of having them.
