Steps to reproduce:
115.6.1 (64-bit)
View | Sort by | Unthreaded is selected.
Tbird randomly, and frequently returns to threaded mode even though the above selection never changes.
Actual results:
Messages become threaded.
Expected results:
Messages should permanently be unthreaded.

In troubleshooting mode it seems to work okay, though I only have let it run that way for part of two days.
However, there is some behavior difference between troubleshooting and normal mode.
In both modes I have View|Sort by|Unthreaded selected as the default. I also have the the thread toggle icon enabled in the message pane, for both modes.
In troubleshooting mode, if I click the thread toggle, which then threads the messages, the View|Sort by| selection follows that action and then shows View|Sort by|Threaded.
As previously noted, in normal mode the View|Sort by| selection did not track the thread toggle.
However, before exiting Troubleshooting mode I cleared the startup cache.
Returning to normal mode, the View|Sort by| selection now tracks the thread toggle. Perhaps the cache was the issue and time will tell?
Clearing the cache did not work.
Uncommanded threading continues to occur (though the View|Sort by selection now changes to threaded when the message pane reverts to threading.
