Found in

  • Latest Nightly 124.0a1 (2024-01-25)

Affected versions

  • Latest Nightly 124.0a1 (2024-01-25)

Tested platforms

  • Affected platforms: Windows 11 and Ubuntu 22.04
  • Unaffected platforms: macOS 13.6

Preconditions

  • Activate the feature by setting browser.tabs.cardPreview.enabled as true in about:config

Steps to reproduce

  1. Open two websites in two different tabs (make sure you visit one with a short title to reproduce more easily eg: youtube)
  2. Hover the mouse cursor over the tab which is not in focus
  3. Move the cursor on that tab over the text (title of tab)/title icon/blank area/close button without changing the focus from it.

Expected result

  • Preview remains visible while the cursor is on the same tab and moved all over it even on the close button I would say.

Actual result

  • Preview disappears and reappears even though the cursor of the mouse has not left the same tab area.

Regression range

  • Not a regression since this is reproducible on old Nightly build from 2024-01-13 where this feature officially landed.
Version: Trunk → Firefox 124

:bmaris, if you think that's a regression, could you try to find a regression range using for example mozregression?

Closing this as verified fixed as well since I did the same with bug 1882099 and these two are basically the same thing.
