User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:121.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/121.0

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Have Thunderbird open to Unified view
  2. Wait for a threaded message to arrive (e.g. send yourself one to speed up testing)
  3. In Unified folder click to expand a threaded message.
  4. Delete the top message of the thread (using Delete key or Delete button on message)

Actual results:

Existing message stays open but it converts to a blank message with a date of 1969

Expected results:

Message should delete. Current view should move on to next message in thread

I can't reproduce this using exactly the provided steps, but it may be related to bug 646168 comment 91.

DB, Are you using 115.7.0?

Flags: needinfo?(davidkbolton)

Yes, 115.7.0 (64-bit), Windows 10.
The problem is intermittent (not 100% reproducible for me yet).

bogomil or bj, can you reproduce?

Flags: needinfo?(davidkbolton)

I tried a few approaches and couldn't get it to happen. I wonder if it depends on a particular IMAP server implementation?

If it matters, I'm using local folders with POP3 from Gmail and Zoho

If you find an approach that is reproducible, select Folder Properties and click Repair Folder -- then see if you can reproduce the problem with the repaired folder.

It was 100% reproducible for me, but repairing the folder seems to have fixed the issue. I'll report back if that changes.

I guess repairing the folder didn't fix the issue. I'm still able to reproduce maybe 30% of the time.

Please test 115.9, which contains the fix for a related problem, and report back.

In my initial tests it is fixed. I'll reopen if I find otherwise in the coming days.
