1877326 - Vertical layout: only the message pane should resize when the main windows is resized

When in vertical mode (folder pane | thread pane | message pane) only the message pane should resize when the size of the window is changed.
Folder pane and Today pane remain fixed as they should, but the Thread Pane resizes instead of the Message Pane.

It's more useful to be able to resize the content of a message rather than the list of messages.

Wayne When on earth are we going to get this 'Message List Pane' sorted so that it reduces to two or three lines, not ten? It's well over a month since it was 'posted' that it was sorted, but there have been two updates since then, one I got today, and it's still not been fixed! This bug seems to be about something else, but somehow I'm being copied in?

[e-mail], would this remediate Thunderbird's inability to readably display multiple columns and a vertical reader pane simultaneously? I ask because, if so, it saves those doing triage some work, since I shan't need to a file another bug for it.

This bug is unrelated to what you're requesting, but we already have a bug report about this feature (I'm having a hard time finding now but I will get it and link it here).
Anyway, we're experimenting with your request to see if we can support it without introducing bugs.
