RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 1875121

People

(Reporter: alexandre.ferrieux, Unassigned)

Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:109.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/115.0

Steps to reproduce:

Just "reply to all" on a 4-recipient message.
Note:

  • The profile has an LDAP setting.
  • Default encryption and signature are disabled.
  • Window manager focus model is "focus-follows-mouse"

Actual results:

In the compose window, I start typing, focus is okay. Then 5 seconds later, a pop-up appears "Downloading certificates / Searching the directory for recipients' certificates. This may take a few minutes. [Stop Searching]"
This pop-up stays for a few seconds during which the focus is stolen away from the compose window. This is really annoying, as it keeps disrupting the human focus also ;)

Expected results:

Thunderbird should not make assumptions on the focus policy, and refrain from posting pop-ups when they are not mandatory to proceed (like a password entry or a confirmation).

Note: I am aware that the [Stop Searching] button could be the reason for this pop-up's presence. However, in other parts of TB there are un-cancellable asynchronous tasks, and that's fine (e.g. Compact All Folders) .

Right, ideally we wouldn't show that dialog.
