User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:126.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/126.0
Steps to reproduce:
On Mircosoft Windows 10 with Thunderbird 115.9.0, save messages as EML, putting them on a USB storage device, and wanting to import them on a different Microsoft Windows 10 system. Open the folder with the EML files. Double clicking on a file, Thunderbird displays the message. Now the user wants to store them in the inbox (“import”).
Actual results:
Dragging the files to the inbox in Thunderbird, the user is unable to drop them.
Expected results:
The user should be able to just drop them, and Thunderbird should put them into the inbox.

Drag and drop from File Explorer to a subfolder of Local Folders works in Windows, but not to an IMAP folder. Drag into the subfolder, then copy to the target folder (a few at a time if the target is IMAP).

In general, this works for me with 115 and 128 on Windows and Linux. However, sometimes it seems to take some time until the messages actually appear in the thread pane showing the IMAP folder.

Just tested again on Debian sid/unstable with gnome-shell 47.0-1 and thunderbird 1:128.2.1esr-1, and dragging an EML file from Nautilus to Thunderbird’s local Sent folder. The message did not show up.

Could you provide the output of file message.eml
? The problem may be caused by the message not containing CR/LF line terminators.

SMTP mail, ASCII text, with CRLF line terminators
So it looks like, that is not the reason.
What is your environment?

What is your environment?
I tested this with Daily and esr128 under Debian 12/XFCE 4.18, as well as esr115 under Windows 10.
