RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 1134629

People

(Reporter: daniel.lusk, Unassigned)

Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:124.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/124.0

Steps to reproduce:

Search for the string "0.01" in global search, when I know that I have an email with the subject "Re: 0.01 degree correlations" in the search list.

Actual results:

No results: "No messages match your search"

Expected results:

Emails containing "0.01" should be returned. Searching for "degree", for example, returns the aforementioned email in results.

Your bug summary is not quite correct. In principle, searching by number does work. For example, 123 is found without any problems.

However, the "global search" is an index-based text search that only covers words with three or more letters. It recognizes "0.01" as two words with a full stop in between. These are therefore not indexed.
Perhaps this can be corrected. I'll change the summary accordingly.

I hope it is in your interest. But I don't see any other way to solve the problem.

Summary: Numbers in global search return no results → Global search does not find short decimal numbers ("0.01") as they are not recognized as a single word

Alfred is correct. This is a result of the tokenizer set to 3 characters or more, which is bug 1134629. This won't change any time soon - though you likely could get a working version at two characters by changing the source code and compiling your own executable.
