Steps to reproduce:
HTML emails were a mistake to begin with, but since we have to deal with it...:
We can use "View > Message Body as > Simple HTML" (or plaintext) to lessen the pain.
(However in the context of work I sadly need to have an HTML signature, so I can not send out emails with plaintext, so the irony is clearly noted.)
This view option makes reading incoming emails better, it does have no influence on replying tho!
That is clearly an issue, since people overuse the abilities of what should have been an exclusively text platform, see screenshot with a horrible background.
I would like to have a setting that uses the same options as the "View" one, just for replying.
Basically we need the ability to strip all that unnecessary HTML/CSS from outgoing emails.
Backgrounds are the worst, since when hitting "reply" it overrides everything – kind of a like a virus, you then can never get rid of it again for that thread.
Also this will make your text unreadable, since I'm using the dark mode, which uses light text by default. Now you first need to override your own text to use a dark color...
See screenshot again, with white text on white background.
