Steps to reproduce:
I did not do anything. From time to time the setting has changed when I open Thunderbird. I set it back to "Unthreaded" but after several days/weeks it changes back to "Threaded". It is not related to version updates.
Expected results:
It should stay as I set it

One cause for this has been fixed in bug 1725127 (uplifted to 115.8), maybe there are others. Changing mailnews.default_view_flags to 0 in the config editor could be a workaround.

Steve, is this still happening with recent versions? Repairing the affected may also help.
