Why can the user resize the attachment pane ?
I don't understand why the attachment pane can be made larger than it needs to be, potentially covering almost the entire screen with a mostly blank area. Especially since switching to another email keeps this unnecessarily large attachment pane dimensions!

I don't see any benefit of the opposite case either, i.e. downsizing the attachment pane BELOW the required dimensions for displaying the attachments (i.e. not all attachments are visible), given that the attachment pane can be collapsed. Again, switching to another email keeps the undersized attachment pane dimensions so that not all attachments might be visible.

So there are actually 2 problems:
- Attachment pane size does not auto-adjust to properly fit the attachments after switching to another email.
- Attachment pane can be resized by the user. (I don't see any benefit but only problems in that.)

The situation here is somewhat better:
The attachment pane cannot be downsized below the required size to fully display all attachments.
However it can unnecessarily be enlarged without any reason.
steps to reproduce:
- resize (smaller or larger) the attachment pane in the message preview pane
--> actual result: attachment pane is either unnecessarily enlarged or too small to display all attachments
--> expected results: attachment pane should not be resizable - switch to another email
--> actual result: the attachment pane dimensions from step 1 are kept
--> expected result: the attachment pane dimensions should "snap back" (i.e. auto-adjust to the required height to fit the file list)
I would have assumed this issue to be reported already, but I couldn't find any duplicate.
don't know which component to select, since the bug affects both components: message reader UI and message compose window
