User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:128.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/128.0
Steps to reproduce:
From Thunderbird 115.13 'Help/About Thunderbird' I upgraded to 128.0.1esr manually.
Actual results:
In Thunderbird 128.0.1esr the most recent ~1 1/2 years of emails in the 'sent' folder are blank. Emails sent before ~1 1/2 years ago show all information, i.e. headers, subject, body, everything. New emails sent after the 128 upgrade show all information. I have emails in the 'sent' folder from 1/2020, but the ones from 4/10/2023 to 8/1/2024 are blank.
Expected results:
All emails in the 'Sent' folder should show all information.
It seems that the upgrade from 115 to 128.0.1esr was not able to handle all the files in the 'Sent' folder, which is 1.9GB.

Does repair folder fix it? Using IMAP with gmail, I sure hope.
After running Repair Folder on the Sent folder all the blank emails were deleted.
Dang! I ran repair folder on the Sent folder and all the blank emails were deleted. See added image file. I suppose I'll have to restore a backup to at least get the 'blank' emails back for further troubleshooting?
While this issue is being explored, I would like to downgrade to 115.13 and restore a backup that will have all my Sent emails. What is the correct procedure to downgrade from 128.0.1esr to 115.13 and have 115.13 use my existing profile?
BTW, I tried installing 115.13 thinking that alone would downgrade the 128 version, but the install created a new profile instead so that I had both versions installed. I did not want that so I uninstalled the 115.13 and am back to only 128.0.1esr.

Run from command line
thunderbird.exe --allow-downgrade

Thank you. Do I run 'thunderbird.exe --allow-downgrade' after the installation of 115.13 is complete? Or is that command run while installing 115.13?

Did the mbox file get truncated from more than 4 GB to ~4 GB like in bug 1911076?

I've uploaded two more image files.
- One is the Mail folder after TB was upgraded from 115.13 to 128.0.1. This shows the Sent file is 1.9GB
- The other file shows the Mail folder from a backup of TB 115 that I restored on another laptop, which shows the Sent file at that time was 5GB. That backup was my most recent BU, about 6 weeks ago.
Bug 1911076 sure sounds like what I've encountered, except the Sent folder was truncated to 1.9GB, not ~4GB mentioned in the bug. The other symptom in 1911076 i.e., "my bottom half of messages come up blank and only see the headers" is exactly what I see in the Sent folder after the upgrade.

I noticed something very curious when I looked at the Mail folders. The Drafts file is 2GB is size, yet there is only 1 file in the Draft folder. Why is the Draft file that huge? Should I run Repair Folder on Drafts?

Drafts get superseded when auto-saved or sent in the end. It's a good idea to compact the Drafts folder every once in a while. The Sent folder got reduced in size from 5 GB to 2 GB, maybe that's where the problem occurred. Did you compact it manually?

Wow! I manually compacted the Drafts folder, which freed up 2GB. Thank you for recommending that. As far as other manual compacting, periodically I do File/Compact Folders which usually frees up 20-50MB at the most. I'm assuming that File/Compact only compacts the Inbox and subfolders? If so, then I've never manually compacted the Sent folder just like the Drafts folder which I only did at your suggestion.
