Steps to reproduce:

I tried importing various top level folders on another computer with an existing install (v128.1). These imports failed. Messages did not become available. This issue may be related to #1907984 .

Reproduce using a sbd folder containing mailbox files and structure:
#method 1
Import from another Thunderbird installation
Choose a profile folder
Select Mail Messages
Start Import
Finish (restarts)

#method 2
Import from a file
Import backed-up Profile
Choose a profile folder
Select Mail Messages
Start Import
Finish (restarts)

This creates empty Thunderbird Import and Thunderbird Import1 numbered folders that are empty. I tried to import copied local folders too with the same result.

Manually copying mbox files did not work either.

Actual results:

Importing mbox files did not work.

Expected results:

Importing mbox files should work.

Windows 11 23H2
Thunderbird v128.1

Please check error console for related failure messages.

No errors at all except those that were already there.

Import seems to work at least on linux.

Did you use one of the methods I used? Was is a profile folder or a sbd folder?
