[macOS] Window for filter protocol is too small so protocol isn't visible

Steps to reproduce:

  • Open Filter protocol settings: Menu "Extras" in Menu Bar --> Filters --> Select Mail account in Drowpdown --> Button "Filter protocol" in bottom right
  • Turn on filter protocol using the checkbox there
  • Close filter protocol settings and filters windows
  • Wait some time (to make sure the filters have done something)
  • Try to view the filter protocol , should be inside the filter protocol settings

(my machine is set to German, so the english names here are translated by me and may not be 100% the strings used by TB)

Actual results:

The window containing the filter protocol does not show the protocol, instead only showing the checkbox for enabling/disabling the protocol and the buttons to clear the protocol and close the window.

Only after resizing the window by grabbing the bottom edge and pulling down, the text view showing the log was visible. There was no hint in the window showing that this is necessary.

This behaviour was not reproducible after having resized the window, so I guess the problem only occurs the very first time that the filter protocol settings are opened / the filter protocol is viewed.

Expected results:

The window should be large enough to also display at least some part of the logs, or there should be a dedicated button to view the logs which then opens another window or expands the current window to show the logs.

Stock Thunderbird does not have an "Extras" menu item. There is Tools > Filters.

Thank you for pointing this out, that's why I included the disclaimer

in my original post.

I have attached a screenshot where you can see that, indeed, the menu bar item is called "Extras" on my Mac.

No, I didn't try that since the issue resolved itself after resizing the window manually. And now I cannot reproduce the issue anymore.
However, when the issue occurred, it was reproducible (so closing and re-opening the filter protocol window did not resolve it).

This has just been fixed with 128.2.1esr.
