This might also be related to https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1901341
:jan-erik :chutten - We have been seeing a lot of these dau_reporting, fx-accounts, pageload, use-counters pings from firefox-desktop-background-tasks
in the last week. Not sure if there is a missing dependency that should be added in probe-scraper if this is expected? Or if this is related to some more recent changes around adding DAU reporting?

Sure sounds like an extension to bug 1901341 to me. The background tasks should not have fx-accounts connections, load pages, count use of page or document features, or report dau (because they disable the builtin "baseline" ping which would otherwise drive its schedule).
This bug (and bug 1901341) might be easier to diagnose once bug 1919345 is fixed, adding profiler markers every time a ping is submitted.

I forgot that the dau-reporting ping will also get default-added to those other apps. That's unintentional, but right now at least not harmful.
A related feature I'm planning might actually fix this soon (enabling/disabling a list of pings in Glean).

FYI, we see this for org-mozilla-ios-focus
as well bug 1928448 -- I assume that's another extension of this bug
