User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Android 14; Mobile; rv:133.0) Gecko/133.0 Firefox/133.0

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Go to Settings > Site settings and turn on "Always request desktop site"
  2. Go to a website
  3. Press the 3 dots button and notice that check the "Desktop site" toggle

Actual results:

  • Desktop site is toggled off
  • Pressing the toggle does not change the appearance of the toggle to toggle on, nor does it change the page to mobile site. However, it does refresh the page.

Expected results:

  • If the desktop site is to have functionality with toggle on, it should display on by default, and should toggle off (showing mobile site) when toggled.
  • Otherwise, it should not be displayed in the menu.

Thanks for reporting this issue

I would like to add that in case you don't see the result occuring, try closing and opening the browser as the "Always request desktop site" toggle only activates upon browser restart.

I was able to reproduce this on all versions of Firefox for Android: 133.0, Beta 134.0b1, and Nightly 135.0a1.
Tested with Samsung Galaxy Note 8 (Android 9), and Google Pixel 6 (Android 15).
I'll confirm the ticket.

Hey Mira or QA, could you re-verify this bug is still an issue? The attached WIP is an unrelated change regarding current tab's behavior. We want to double check on the bug.

Thanks for tagging us!

The issue is no longer reproducible on the Fenix nightly 137.0a1 from 2/12.
Tested with Google Pixel 9 Pro (Android 14), OnePlus 5 (Android 10), and Google Pixel 6 (Android 15).

When the "Always request desktop site" toggle is ON, all the pages opened after open in desktop mode, and have the "Desktop site" toggle ON.
