1930143 - [a11y] Talkback does not mention the element type ("button") on the 3-dot menu in app and custom tabs

Steps to reproduce

1. Turn on Talkback.
2. Tap on the 3-dot menu from homepage and from an opened tab.
3. Observe the Talkback announcement.

Expected behavior

Talkback reads: "Menu. Button. Double tap to activate”.

Actual behavior

Talkback only announces "Menu. Double tap to activate", without giving more information about the element's type, (button, in this case).

Device information

• Firefox version: Nightly 134.0a1 (with old and new toolbar), Beta 133.0b5, Release 132.0.1
• Android device model & Android OS version: Samsung Tab S8 Ultra 5G (Android 14), Samsung GalaxyZ Fold 4 (Android 13), Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra (Android 14)

Additional information

This issue is also reproducible in custom tabs.

I changed this menu buttons content description to match the rest of Fenix in 1920037 so it now reads "More options" from the string resource <string name="content_description_menu">More options</string>

That landed 10/16/24 but this was opened 6 days ago so I'm not sure this is still an issue. :dpop could you retest on Nightly again and let me know if you're still seeing issues?

Hi Zac, I re-tested this and here's what I found:

• without the Menu redesign feature enabled from Secret Settings, the Talkback reads "Menu"
• with the Menu redesign feature enabled from Secret Settings, the Talkback reads "More options. Button"

So, 1920037 indeed fixed the issue, but only for Menu Redesign.
