Since addresses collected are consolidated from several accounts and one does
not always have time to fill in the fields for a new address at the time it is
collected, there is a problem with matching an address card to the message from
which it was extracted, and also with selecting recipients which should receive
from one account rather than from another.

My proposed enhancement is to enable the user to dedicate two of the custom
fields, one for the date and time a message was last sent to the addressee, and
the other for the sender used. My proposed function could be used at a later
time for existing cards, searching the Sent folder for the last message to that
recipient, and filling in the timestamp and sender fields. It could also be set
to fill those fields as new addresses are collected or messages sent.

One should also be able to specify selection criteria for addressees to be
collected into different address books, such as by sender or other attribute values.

One way the user might manage address collection would be to provide a kind of
filter similar to those used to send messages to folders, but allowing the user
to define rules for sending addresses to address books and to folders within
those address books. It should be possible to use the filter manually to send
addresses from folder to folder or to collect addresses from previously sent or
received messages even though the addresses weren't collected at the time. This
suggestion could also be tied to bug #194784.
