Connect user request (multiple): ease of use, personal workflows (including for accessibility)

Since we're adding a lot of code to the patch to accommodate the 260 character windows MAX_PATH limit[1], I will mention that, while it is technically possible[2] to set a per-application registry key to enable long paths in Windows, in practical terms it is not yet usable (see bug 1910527).
