User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:138.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/138.0

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Have a Gmail account logged in and as your primary account
  2. Setup RSS Feeds with active items
  3. View RSS Feed Items
  4. Archive the RSS Feed Item with the shortcut A

Actual results:

RSS Feed Items start showing on my Gmail All Mail Folder (Online)
See attached picture

It should also be noted that archival speed has slowed precipitously in the recent version.

Expected results:

Archival of RSS Items should only be archived locally instead of being sent to cloud account and taking up additional space.

Feeds do not have "Copies & Folders" settings, so default identity is used. This is expected.

Summary: Archival of RSS Items gets sent to Cloud Mailbox → Archival of RSS Items gets sent to Archives of default identity

Is this a recent change as I don't recall seeing this behaviour in the past? I can't say that this is something I would expect as an end user, as this will result in additional storage space being used on the default identity if it's a cloud account. Are there plans to create Copies & Folders settings for RSS feeds?

For use case clarification:
The use case for archiving the RSS feed items is to have copies of the news items locally searchable but not in the main RSS Feed inbox. This would be separate from the "mail" side of the organization structure since that is exclusively with correspondence.

It's been like this forever. Perhaps you update what your default account is.

Well, I haven't changed my default account. Nevertheless, if you believe this is expected then I will close this out or move it to request for enhancement. I think there is value in treating the copies and folders of RSS differently than the other accounts.

I ran mozregression on a profile with an ordinary IMAP account and one subscribed RSS feed. Archiving directly beneath the RSS account works until https://hg-edge.mozilla.org/comm-central/pushloghtml?fromchange=da82ca780f5b2960f5dd7e8c8986f06a820711b1&tochange=0b6c34cbc5e01840b646aff1bcf60dbae5ac636b.

See also bug 473217 and bug 1360857 which introduced and fixed that behavior.
