Its quite intrusive to use the SelectableProfileService or ProfilesDatastoreService in xpcshell tests outside of the directory it lives in. See this patch as an example -- you have to change the head.js to require multiple head files from across the tree.

It would be nice we could have some sort of ProfileTestUtils exposed under testing-common that gathered up the required bootstrapping into an importable module so it was easier to use across the tree -- or add something like do_get_profile() to testing/xpcshell/head.js so any test can use the helper immediately.

Adding a reference to bug 2015218, where we see this creeping into an xpcshell.toml yet again:
