User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 5.5; Windows NT 4.0) Build Identifier: this is an enhancement request to the select From header and right click which creates a filter. IMHO, the easiest ever filter creation is implemented by Forte Agent (also Free agent). 1 The user right clicks on a message 2 select add filter 3 window pops up with prefilled criterion (sender address) (ALSO you get a 'paste field' button) 5 click 'paste field' 6 pops up window with a scrolling list of each mail header from which user can select and paste into filter criteria (which supports reg exp too) It makes creation of a new filter a 3 click process and very very quick. Suggest someone grabs a copy of Agent (www.forteinc.com) and has a look. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.

dupe of bug 140591 or whatever -> INVALID reporter, please read the bug reporting guideline before filing a bug report. Test against a newer bug and then give us the build ID (your build ID is that of MSIE). And descriptive bug summary please

Summary: Suggestion for easy addition of new filters → Right click on "from" address to create a filter
Sorry I did read the bug reporting guidelines. There's little guidance on * new feature requests *. I am NOT reporting an existing bug. How is a build ID relevant to a new feature ? Maybe opening sentence a touch ambiguous. Try this: 'this is an *enhancement request* to the 'select From header and right click which creates a filter' functionality.
Summary: Right click on "from" address to create a filter → right click to create a filter based on any mail headers
Reopening. Daniel, this is a valid RFE, requesting for the currently existing feature to be extended, and has nothing to do with the feature once having had a bug or whatever. :) As such it might still be a dupe (of bug 181988 in this case), except that this bug proposes a way to do this that might actually be useful, and asks for "any" mail haders, instead of an extended limited subset.

The just-added dupe suggested a mechanism for this that I think is superior to the "'paste header' button" suggested in the original report:
> the 'header name' combo should let me pick from all the headers of the
> message I am creating a rule from, and the value should default to the
> current value of whatever header I pick.

I just want to repeat my suggestion from Bug 333762, since it has been marked as a duplicate of this one long time ago: When adding filters, I suggest changing default from "Match any of the following" to "Match all of the following", because this could create less false positives: I'm getting many mail-server-errors from different customers I don't need to read for 99.9%. But I have to keep all of them just in case. Since they all have the same subject, I filter by subject and sender. If I forget to change from "Match any" to "Match all", messages from my customers get mixed up.
