Build ID: 2003032508 and 2003032416 I have been testing smooth scrolling a little, however twice (different pages) the browser has hung and had to be terminated with Ctrl-Alt-Del :-( I have not been able to reproduce this hang with smooth scrolling disabled, so I am 99% sure it is related. Will test more and report back if I am wrong.
I can confirm this problem with smooth scrolling activated in Phoenix (20030324) on W95.

Build ID 2003032604 had a hang after enabling smooth scrolling in about:config, while I still was resetting some other unused variables in about:config. I had to kill mozilla, so changes were not stored, and I didn´t retry.
I've been running this patch for several months on linux and nt, and I have never seen this happen. this must be windows 95 specific.
Forget to tell Win98 with SP1, noname grafics (SiS 6326 / 8 MB ) running @ 800x600
Confirming since other also see this.

Can you describe the problem more? Does it just hang at a random time, or does it hang after you do some specific operation?
I've seen this behavior since the first smooth scrolling enabled build on two Win98SE computers. What I see however is, that the browser recovers from such a hang without intervention after a few seconds (like about 10-15 on an Athlon 1200). The processor is completely busy during this time, but other application continue to work normal. The trigger for the hangs seems to be (at least for me) scrolling on a page using the mouse wheel. It's not reproducible, but happens a few times a day with medium usage of Mozilla.
For me this also happens when I scroll with the mouse wheel. Unlike comment 8 my computer has not recovered in a reasonable time, but since my computer is starved both on memory (64 MB) and processor force (Pentium II 350) I might not have waited long enough. Will investigate more. In case it matters: Matrox G100 graphics, 4 MB, @ 1024 x 768.
I'm seeing the exact same symptoms as in comment #8. Mozilla is completely stalled and doesn't update any of it's windows. CPU is running at 100%. After 5-10 seconds mozilla resumes normal functionality again. The error seems to be triggered by using the scroll-wheel. I updated to Logitech Mouseware 9.75 (because of bug 27667), installed this mozilla build and enabled smooth scroll at about the same time, so I can't really tell if it's the build, smooth scroll or maybe even mouseware that triggers the problem. It happens about ten times per day for me. Win NT4.0, SP6. Mozilla build 2003032611.
I just had this happen again and, yes, the browser do recover. Unfortuneately on my machine this takes 2-3 minuttes.
I've located this bug. Patch coming.

I believe the bug effects more than the Win 95 platform. I am experiencing it with MacOS X 10.1.5 using the latested trunk build with smooth scrolling enabled. The bug disappears when smooth scrolling is disabled. If it helps I am using a Wacom drawing tablet with the wireless mouse.
I just had this hang on Win2000. I used the mouse-wheel to scroll over a side with a lot of flash-animations. Suddenly the browser hung and I stopped it via Taskmanager after about 20s. CPU-usage was 100% and the browser windows wasn't refreshed any more.
This should be fixed due to a checkin I made this morning. Please reopen if not so.
